We're nearing the end of our school year and I'm not sure who is more excited, me or the kiddos. I always love the idea of less structured days, no homework, fun in the water, and tackling all the undone things that have collected in this household during the school year.
What I don't like about it is the desert temperatures, but even more than those triple digits it depresses me at how quickly another year has flown by. This summer especially seems to be bittersweet because so many changes will take place this fall. (To me the beginning of the year is always marked by September, not January), and this September, Ellie, my oldest, heads off to fourth grade and we'll no longer be together at the same school site. I'll so miss watching her with her friends in the hallways, and popping my head into her classroom when time permits, or just being able to regularly gab with her teachers about how she is doing. And Seth, my five-year-old, my baby, will be off to kindergarten!! Say it can't be so!!!! How can this be? I just brought him home from the hospital! WAAAAAA!!!! Dramatic I know, but really, why is my life, their lives, going at 90 miles per hour? So... hopefully for our two months off we'll all slow down a bit and I can remember to cherish these short moments of their childhood.
Hopefully, this won't be the last of my posts. Hopefully, I'm reminded that one day Ellie and Seth will probably love looking back at their childhood and what their mama thought of it all. Hopefully, that will be enough motivation to keep me posting. Hopefully, I figure out how to quickly download pictures and make this blog more visually inviting. Hopefully...
